Read through 2 Thess 3:1-5

2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 New International Version (NIV)

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

Align time

Connect with your group for discussion of our text together.

Questions to probe our text and live it:

  1.  Welcome new peeps!
  2. Any news or needs to pass along?
  3. Stay tuned for our return to church campus. Any more advice or concerns for resuming large meetings together? Children’s ministries will be difficult to do and meet social distancing requirements. How will that affect you if kids are present with adults for much of the summer (no Sunday School or ABF)?
  4. Who is someone you pray for regularly? Why do you do that?
  5. Does someone pray for you regularly? Have you ever asked someone to pray for you?
  6. Consider the following two questions, then re-read 2 Thess 3:1-5.
  7. What are prayer needs this passage gives priority to?
  8. What do you learn about praying from this passage?
  9. Please view (again?) the video report of Tom & MaryAnn Barlow
  10. Pray together together for the Barlows. Using the pattern of 2 Th 3:1-5 pray for other missionaries (Justinianos—Japan; Pattons—transitioning to the US from Brazil; McCrackens—on extended leave in the US from Taiwan; Karen Foster—back in the US from Cameroon due to COVID; Holly & Jean Bloemhof—socially distanced in Paris.
  11. Other prayer needs?
  12. Any other updates to pass along?
  13. Thanks for the great job you are doing to encourage others by phone calls and acts of service. Thanks, too, for your faithfulness in giving and praying for each other.
