In John chapter 17, Jesus prays to be glorified with the glory he had with the Father before the world began. He prays for his disciples that they may be one as Jesus and the Father are one, not that they be taken out of the world but that they be protected from the evil one.

And Jesus prays for all believers, that will believe because of the disciples message, that they be one as well. Jesus wants those the Father has given him to be where he is, to see his glory which the Father gave him because he loved him before the creation of the world.

He concludes with, "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
