In chapter 18, Jesus is arrested being betrayed by Judas. Simon Peter fights back and cuts off the ear of the high priest's servant. Jesus rebukes Peter saying "Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?" Jesus is tekn to the high priest and questioned. Peter follows and when confronted denies he knows Jesus three times. Jesus is taken to Pilate who questions him and his kingship and about truth. Pilate finds basis for a charge against Jesus and wants to release him. The Jews shout back, "No, not him! Give us Barabbas!"
