In John chapter 6, Jesus feeds the five thousand, walks on water and then tells those seeking him that he is the bread of life come down from heaven, whereupon many of this disciples stop following him. When Jesus asks the Twelve if they also want to leave, Peter responds, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
