Preparatory content

Read through 2 Thess 3:16-18

2 Thessalonians 3:16-18

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Align time

Connect with your group for discussion of our text together.

Questions to probe our text and live it:

  1. Welcome new peeps! Who else could we include?
  2. Public worship returns to GCC’s campus on July 5. We will offer recorded worship services for any who are unable or cautious about returning to meeting all together if there is enough interest. Please email pastor@hhgcc.org to indicate your interest continuing remote church.
  3. Groups of 10 or less may meet face-to-face with appropriate social distancing if your group is ready. The Welcome Center and ABF 4/5 with their big TVs are available for groups on a pre-scheduled basis (email church office 48 hrs before planned use).
  4. Have you ever received something from an estate (or otherwise gifted to you) from someone who has died? What was given to you and what does that mean to you?
  5. Have you thought much about what you will designate to those who outlive you?
  6. Re-read 2 Thess 3:16-18. Paul wanted to give the Thessalonians (and consequently, us) three precious possessions: 1) the on-going presence of Christ who brings us peace; 2) a confidence in the word of God as true and reliable; 3) God-given capability to meet any challenge we face with the strength and gifts God provides—not just to survive, but thrive and strengthen others.
  7. With the remaining time scan each chapter of 1 Thessalonians. As you scan please comment this way on anything that fits: “I sure would like to have more of the ________ that I see in verse ______ .”
  8. If your time allows, do #7 over again but scanning 2 Thessalonians.
  9. Please give us other updates or prayer needs? As we thought through about things others have given us, and possessions or qualities we would like to pass along to others, did any names come to your mind? Let’s pray for these ones together.
